John Edwards can now take a back seat to SC Gov. Mark Sanford. Sanford beats Edwards’ $400.00 haircut with his $1,265.00 haircut.

Keep up the good work, Governor.

SC Dems Fire Back at Sanford

South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler says she’s not pleased with all of Gov. Mark Sanford’s vacation time (via email).

SC Dems Chair: Sanford is Lucky to Have Unlimited Paid Time Off from the Job

Columbia, SC – Carol Fowler, Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, released the following statement in response to news that Governor Mark Sanford will be taking another two weeks of vacation to visit Europe with his family.

“Mark Sanford gets still another vacation–two weeks in Europe with his family, leaving behind a state that is desperate for leadership to solve a host of problems.

“He’s lucky. Most South Carolinians don’t have unlimited paid time off. They can’t just leave their jobs for days at a time whenever they want to, no matter what urgent family issues they’re struggling to manage,” Fowler said. “Of course, most South Carolinians are also expected to actually accomplish something when they are on the job.”

Hard to argue with that.

Sanford – On the Trail Again

without comments

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford plans to take vacation, again. This time he will visit Europe for two weeks. He just got back from vacation this weekend! Nice job, if you can get it.

His little love muffin from Argentina will not accompany him this trip, instead his wife Jenny and his sons will travel with him. So he says.

Sanford Apologizes … Again

without comments

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford just can’t seem to keep himself out of the media. Yesterday the governor penned an op-ed in The State, but this time said he was “thankful” for the experience gained by his extra-marital. You can’t make this stuff up.

It is true that I did wrong and failed at the largest of levels, but equally true is the fact that God can make good of our respective wrongs in life. In this vein, while none of us has the chance to attend our own funeral, in many ways I feel like I was at my own in the past weeks, and surprisingly I am thankful for the perspective it has afforded.

Who is advising Gov. Sanford?

Update: Carol Fowler, Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party issued a statement (via email) on Sanford’s op-ed.

“Mark Sanford’s vague apology in Sunday’s papers is fine as far as it goes, but he doesn’t say what he’s apologizing for. Turning his back on the people of SC? Abandoning his family? Dumping his responsibilities for weeks? Or 6 1/2 years of ignoring our public schools and the children in them?

“When my children were small and had to say they were sorry I always made them specify what the apology was for, to be sure they knew. Does Governor Sanford know?”

I’d say they’re both acting like children.

Interestingly enough, Fowler’s statement was issued on Friday (July 17) — two days before Sanford’s op-ed was published.
